HardieWindbreaker boards are 9mm thick, produced in three sizes: 1200 x 2400 mm, 1200 x 2700 mm and 1200 x 3000 mm. Our sheathing boards are suitable for both steel and timber frame constructions, and can be fixed using both screws and nails.
A range of tools and accessories are available including: HardieWindbreaker screws, sealing tape, HardieBlade saw blade, and a range of galvanized steel trims.

Is HardieWindbreaker™ fibre cement sheathing board more moisture resistant that Gypsum Sheathing?
Generally yes, as the board is cementitious it should perform better than most gypsum based boards. However, there are a few exceptions with water repellent coatings.
In what thicknesses is HardieWindbreaker™ sheathing board available?
HardieWindbreaker™ boards are 9mm thick and available in three sheet sizes: 1200 x 2400 x 9 mm, 1200 x 2700 x 9 mm, 1200 x 3000 x 9 mm
Is HardieWindbreaker™ sheathing board more expensive than OSB or plywood boards?
Yes, as HardieWindbreaker™ board is a highly advanced weather defence board it is more expensive. However, it does not require the extra cost of a membrane which Plywood and OSB would need.
What are the main advantages of HardieWindbreaker™ sheathing board over OSB or Plywood?
HardieWindbreaker™ is an A2 non combustible board, whereas plywood and OSB are combustible materials and cannot be used in certain applications due to the new building regulations for fire safety.
HardieWindbreaker™ sheathing board has an A2, s1-d0 fire rating, is this the same as a 60/60 fire rating?
No, it is not the same. But HardieWindbreaker™ boards meet both requirements, as it is A2 non combustible and also reach a 60 minute fire rating.
Can I drill or saw HardieWindbreaker™ fibre cement sheathing board without special protection?
Yes you can. However, please remember to wear the standard PPE such as goggles, masks and gloves.
During a build, how long can HardieWindbreaker™ sheathing board be exposed to rain before it needs to be covered?
Once installed correctly, we warrant 12 months exposure on site.
Is HardieWindbreaker™ board breathable sheathing? What is the advantage?
Yes, HardieWindbreaker™ board is breathable, meaning that the board will allow the building to breath whilst keeping the moisture out. This removes issues with rot and mould growth.
Is HardieWindbreaker™ board used for wall, floor or roof sheathing?
HardieWindbreaker™ sheathing board is only to be used on walls.
